Most of us don't realize how much work goes into planning a wedding until we are in the middle of all of the details. While we wish that we had the money to hire a full wedding planner, most of us are looking for ways to make our dollars stretch further. This is where the day-of wedding coordinator comes in. Today I will be starting a 4 part series on why you should hire a Day-of Wedding Coordinator. 

What is a Day-of Wedding Coordinator?

A Day-of Coordinator is also considered the event manager. They take all of the hard work you have taken planning your special day and put the plan into action. They are typically hired a couple months out and start working with the couple 3-4 weeks before the wedding. Once hired, the day-of coordinator's responsibilities include:

• Offer advice & vendor recommendations
• Create a timeline
• Collect Vendor contracts & contact information
• Coordinate rehersal
• Arrive at the venue the day of the wedding to direct all vendors
• Set up all personal items
• Manage the timing & flow of the event
• Be the point of contact for questions or concerns
• Take care of personal items at the end of the evening

 
Why hire a Day-of Wedding Coordinator?

The main reason to hire a day-of coordinator is so you can simply relax and enjoy your wedding day! You have planned every little detail for your wedding day, you should be able to enjoy everything you have planned for and just take in this special moment. You shouldn't be running around "like a chicken with your head cut off"! You shouldn't have to worry about making sure things are set up correctly, whether a vendor has issues, trying to wrangle up people for pictures, making sure things are cleaned up at the end of the evening, etc.. You should be able to cherish every moment of the day. Afterall, you are marrying the love of your life and you should celebrate this special time!

So I haven't posted in a while, I have been making some life changes!! For those of you who don't know, I am excited to announce that I have been able to quit my day job and pursue my dreams of planning events full time!! Happy New Year! I love the beginning of a new year. It gives me the chance to reflect on the past year and set goals for the upcoming year. This past year was a great start for Posh Occasions! All of my clients were awesome and I had a blast making events memorable and special. I also started doing some marketing, which I thoroughly enjoy. Both planning events and doing marketing are my passions and I am so excited that I got to start living out my dreams this past year. I am thankful for my husband for fully supporting my dream of starting an event planning and marketing company and helping make my dreams come true. I have a great support system of family and friends that have given me encouragement and guidance in this new journey. 

I am so excited to see what 2015 has to bring for my business. I already have a couple weddings booked and clients for marketing, it is already starting off to be a good year! It is only going to get better as I have some plans in the works to expand and gain more business and clients. If you know of anyone who is in need of marketing or event planning services, I would love the opportunity to earn their business. 

One of my main goals for this year is to blog more and expand my writing abilities so make sure to follow my blog! Give me input and let me know what I should work on. This winter has been crazy! Here in the Nashville area, we have had brutal cold temperatures and ice storms, Atlanta had a major snowstorm that shut the city down and on the East Coast, there were record topping snow totals. I don't know about you but I am ready for Spring!!

I am ready for warm weather, blooming flowers and birds chirping. I am ready for sitting outside on a sunny day reading a book and sipping on some lemonade. Most of all, I am ready for all of the festivities that come up in the spring. There are so many things to do outside which is so enjoyable because people have been locked up inside for 3 months.

Spring is a time for family with Easter and Mother's Day and beautiful weddings. In the next month or so, I will be updating this website and giving some insight on spring wedding and party ideas. What are you looking forward to this spring?

Thanksgiving. It is the time of year when families get together, we watch parades, root on our favorite football teams and eat a ton of food. This time of year I like to focus on what we are thankful for. I am thankful for my family; I have an amazing husband and two step-sons that I love as my own, I have the most amazing parents and inlaws who support us through anything, I have my sister who I love no matter what and the cutest nephew ever. I am also thankful for our friends; we have the best friends in the world who we laugh with, cry with and can turn to when we really need them. I am thankful for our health; we have been blessed with our health when we know so many people who are hurting and sick. I am thankful most of all for Jesus Christ our savior who died on the cross for our sins; he is there for us when we need it and don't deserve it and never lets us down. I need to be better at recognizing what I am thankful for all year round and not just this time of year. That will be one of my goals next year, I will keep you posted on my progress. As you go through this Thanksgiving, take a minute and think of what you are thankful for. There are so many things to be thankful for all around us, sometimes we just need to slow down and take it all in.
